Certification (legalization) of documents

The Embassy of Ukraine can only legalize official documents certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for further circulation in Rwanda or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international Cooperation of Rwanda for further circulation in Ukraine.

All natural persons are charged to pay consular fees 50 USD per one document.

For legal entities legalization of one document is 100 USD.

Urgent legalization (on the same day) is double-priced

Instruction for payment will be given in Consular Section during interview.

N.B. The Embassy of Ukraine does not accept any check or cash


WHAT IS THE AUTHENTICATION AND LEGALIZATION PROCESS?


The authentication and legalization process enables your foreign documents to be recognized in Ukraine or Ukrainian document to be recognized abroad Ukraine. This two-step process involves first, having your documents authenticated at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for further circulation in Rwanda or at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international Cooperation of Rwanda (MINAFFET) for further circulation in Ukraine.

Next, they must be legalized at the consular section of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Rwanda.

1. The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Kenya pursuant to the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations (1963), the Consular Statute of Ukraine, approved by Decree of the President of Ukraine 127/94, conducts legalization of documents issued by official bodies of Rwanda directed for circulation in Ukraine and documents issued by official bodies of Ukraine directed for circulation in Rwanda.

2. The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Rwanda legalizes the following documents:

- original public documents issued by Rwandan/Ukrainian authorities registering acts of civil state and their notarized photocopies, translations and other documents, certified or issued by notaries;

- criminal record checks (police clearance) or fingerprint certificates ;

- Statements In Lieu of Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage Abroad ;

- education documents;

- other documents:

divorce certificates and similar divorce related documents e.g. divorce judgements etc. Photocopies of these documents, however, they must be certified true copies, signed and sealed by a notary or other person or bode authorized to act as a notary.

medical reports, etc.

3. If your documents are not listed above, please have them notarized before sending them for authentication and legalisation.

Attention !!! 

As the Embassy was informed by MINAFFET, Republic of Rwanda has acceded to the Hague Convention of the 5th October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, also known as Apostille Convention. Starting from the 5th June 2024 the Republic of Rwanda has been implementing the provisions of this Convention by issuing E-Apostille and accepting Apostille issued by other member states of Apostille convention (including Ukraine). 

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Rwanda is not authorized to issue apostille or confirm the authenticity of Apostille issued in Ukraine or Rwanda
