According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, bilateral trade turnover between Ukraine and Rwanda in 2024 amounted to 2.9 million USD (in 2023 – 2.6 million USD).
Exports from Ukraine to Rwanda amounted to 988 thousand USD (in 2023 – 430 thousand USD), imports – 1.9 million USD (in 2023 – 2.2 million USD), the negative balance for Ukraine – 916 thousand USD (in 2023 – 1.8 million USD).
Sunflower oil (665 thousand USD) and malt beer (309 thousand USD) were exported from Ukraine to Rwanda.
The main items of import from Rwanda to Ukraine were coffee (1.7 million USD), clothing (coats, raincoats, jackets) (151 thousand USD).
Direct investments from Rwanda to Ukraine and from Ukraine to Rwanda have not been recorded.
Economic and scientific and technical cooperation between Ukraine and Rwanda is at an early stage of development. Given the important attention paid in Rwanda to the modernization of the economy, as well as its high rates of development over the past two decades (GDP growth at 7-8% annually), potentially promising areas of bilateral cooperation include information technologies and digitalization, the agricultural sector, infrastructure projects, energy, the chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, and several other industries.
