On 8 September 2026, Ukraine and the Republic of Rwanda mark the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

In recent years, Ukrainian-Rwandan relations have been gaining increasingly positive momentum and substance. The mutual interest in deepening bilateral cooperation is reflected in the active development of political and diplomatic dialogue between Ukraine and Rwanda at the highest and high levels; the opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in Rwanda; the appointment of Ukraine’s first Ambassador to Rwanda, resident in Kigali; discussions between the two sides on new mutually beneficial projects; and the beginning of the development of a modern legal framework for bilateral relations.

We are confident that these steps will contribute to unlocking the considerable potential of the Ukrainian-Rwandan partnership and to further strengthening cooperation in the political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.

The Ukrainian people highly value Rwanda’s solidarity with and support for Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity and independence.

We extend our sincere wishes for peace, well-being and prosperity to the people of Rwanda and express our confidence in the continued successful development of Ukrainian-Rwandan relations.
